چکیده

We derive, implement, and test a posteriori error estimates for numerical methods for a non-autonomous linear system that involve iterative solution of the discrete equations. We consider two iterations: the Picard iteration and the Jacobi iteration for solving the discrete matrix-vector equations. To carry out the analysis, we define an appropriate adjoint problem for the numerical approximations using the matricant. We present a number of examples with interesting characteristics to illustrate the effectiveness of the estimate. We also present a comparison between the a posteriori error estimate and a conceptually simpler estimate obtained with a “pseudoadjoint” problem.

Adaptive Mixed Hybrid and Macro - HybridFinite Element

In this paper, we consider eecient multilevel based iterative solvers and ee-cient and reliable a posteriori error estimators for mixed hybrid and macro-hybrid nite element discretizations of elliptic boundary value problems. We give an overview concerning the state-of-the-art techniques for these nonconforming approaches and illustrate the performance of the adaptivity concepts realized by som...

A Posteriori Error Estimates Including Algebraic Error and Stopping Criteria for Iterative Solvers

For the finite volume discretization of a second-order elliptic model problem, we derive a posteriori error estimates which take into account an inexact solution of the associated linear algebraic system. We show that the algebraic error can be bounded by constructing an equilibrated Raviart–Thomas–Nédélec discrete vector field whose divergence is given by a proper weighting of the residual vec...

Stabilization techniques and a posteriori error estimates for the obstacle problem

This work deals with a posteriori error estimates for the obstacle problem. Deriving an estimator on the basis of the variational inequality with respect to the primal variable, an inconsistent one is obtained. To achieve consistency, this problem is treated by a Lagrange formalism, which transfers the variational inequality into a saddle point problem. Different techniques to ensure the stabil...
